What is going on with the Affordable Care Act in 2019?
It’s true that 2019 is forecasted to bring many changes to the healthcare world, and the Affordable Care Act is no exception. However, the ACA looks very similar to how you probably remember it. The one major change is the absence of a tax penalty. Prior to the tax penalty being repealed, anyone who didn’t enroll in minimum essential coverage was subject to said tax penalty. As of January 1st this year, that tax penalty doesn’t apply to people who want to choose alternative insurance, such as short-term or a hospital plan.
