The clinic, Amazon Care, was created for employees and their families living in Seattle.
Amazon Care is a pilot program offering a combination of telemedicine and home visits and is Amazon's most recent dip into the healthcare world.
The program is being marketed as a trial benefit for company employees who are currently enrolled in an Amazon health insurance plan, according to a company website. Employees will have access to physicians or nurses for urgent care, preventative health consults and sexual health services, such as testing for STIs.
The pilot program is only available to employees and their families in the Seattle area. However, there are more than 53,500 Amazon employees living in the Seattle region.
Amazon Care is not the tech giants first step into the healthcare arena, last year they teamed up with Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase. Amazon stated this partnership would leverage their combined scale and expertise to develop tech solutions to provide employees and their families "simplified, high-quality and transparent healthcare at a reasonable cost."
